The Locke is one of Limericks oldest pubs dating back to 1724. It nestles beside the city's most historic landmarks - St.Marys cathedral, King Johns Castle and the Hunt Museums. This award winning pub lies on a tree lined quay overlooking the Abbey river and offers ita patrons a tranquil and relaxing setting by day day or by night

The following text is from a feature ran by the Limerick Post Newspaper

Richard Costello, as well known for his prowess with Garryowen FC as for being publican, brought The Locke into the premier league as a sports bar when big matches are on. The blinds are drawn, fires lit and six TV screens cleverly positioned when play is in progress;complimentary finger food is served at half-time to the punters' relish.
"You can book the back bar or the bridge bar in the Locke for a sports club do or any private party in fact, be that a corporate one or any occasion," Richard reminds us. "We can cater for up to 80 people in the bar area or 120 for barbecues because of the terrace outside. Our food is the best because along with the usual options of sandwiches and cocktail sausages our kitchen makes savoury canapés and nibbles of traditional Irish smoked salmon and seafood on soda bread".

Make your booking with a few days notice and avail of the bar-tab option and supervised car parking to make your party run effortlessly with the help of The Locke staff .

Luxurious furnishings in rich shades of magenta and red and blonde grace The Locke and its aspect of the Abbey and Shannon Rivers is second to none. A south-facing balcony for diners and the outdoor terrace lined by trees and the Abbey River are fine vantage points for festive nights here - keep an eye on the calendar for a weekend of live bands and barbecues that is being organised to sound in the stretch of Summer with a cheer.

Until then turf fires and a trad session on Thursdays keep Locke regulars mingling happily with passing tourists who love an Irish bar to be the genuine article.
Bear in mind The Locke won a James Joyce award last year for its fidelity to the Joycean notion of what a good bar should be, and The Locke has won the Black & White Pub accolade on several occasions. Proper order of course, for such a lovely gaff and staff who keep the crowds happy with a bar and restaurant that have set a new tide-mark in standards for Limerick.

'Our policy of regularly updating the dishes on offer here beats being handed the same menu time after time and helps to stimulate the appetite. It makes dining out more exciting". says Jackie Costello. No truer word said.
